Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("Customer," "you") and Laz Ventures LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company doing business as RaceHooks ("RaceHooks," "we," "us"), governing your use of the RaceHooks platform, API, SDKs, data feeds, and related services (collectively, "Services").
By creating an account or using any RaceHooks Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are acting on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. The Services
RaceHooks is a motorsport analytics platform with real-time webhook delivery. Services include live webhook delivery of timing and telemetry feeds for supported motorsport series, analytics-enriched payloads on applicable tiers, a historical race data API, session replay (Simulate), and SDKs. Formula 1 is currently live; IndyCar and NASCAR support is in development.
Historical race data is sourced from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0). Live race data availability may vary; RaceHooks does not guarantee continuous live data delivery and the Services may operate at reduced capability during periods of upstream access change.
RaceHooks is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Formula One Management Ltd. ("FOM"), Formula One Licensing BV, Formula One World Championship Ltd., or the FIA. RaceHooks data is not "official league data" as defined by any sports wagering authority. See Section 6 (Sports Wagering) for wagering-specific restrictions.
2. Your Account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering contracts. You agree to provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
You are responsible for all activity under your account and for maintaining the confidentiality of your API credentials and webhook secrets. Webhook secrets are shown once at creation and not stored in retrievable form. Notify us immediately at security@racehooks.io if you believe your credentials have been compromised.
3. Billing and Payment
Current pricing and tier features are available at racehooks.io/pricing. RaceHooks reserves the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice to active paying customers.
- Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in USD, exclusive of applicable taxes
- Payment is processed via Stripe; you authorize us to charge your payment method on the billing date
- Failed payments may result in service suspension after a 7-day cure period
- Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the next billing period
- Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund the pro-rated unused portion of any prepaid period
- You are responsible for all applicable VAT, GST, and similar taxes
Free tier accounts provided without charge have no service level commitments and may be modified or terminated with reasonable notice. Free accounts inactive for 90+ days may be terminated.
4. Acceptable Use
Your use of the Services is subject to the RaceHooks Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP"), which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In the event of conflict between the AUP and these Terms, these Terms control.
5. Intellectual Property
RaceHooks owns all IP rights in the platform, infrastructure, software, SDKs, analytics models, and derived analytics outputs. Nothing in these Terms transfers any RaceHooks IP to you.
You retain all IP rights in the applications you build using the RaceHooks APIs. We do not claim ownership over your applications.
Live timing and telemetry data consists of facts that are not protected by copyright under US law. RaceHooks does not assert copyright over these facts. Your right to use this factual data is subject only to the redistribution and attribution requirements in the AUP.
If you provide feedback or feature suggestions, you grant us a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use and commercialize that feedback without compensation to you.
6. Sports Wagering
RaceHooks data is derived from publicly available sources and is not "official league data" as defined by any sports wagering regulatory body or licensing authority. Each motorsport series has its own authorized official betting data arrangements; RaceHooks is not affiliated with any of them. For Formula 1 specifically, FOM's authorized official betting data supplier is currently ALT Sports Data.
If you use RaceHooks in connection with any sports wagering product, you are solely responsible for:
- Determining compliance with applicable laws in every jurisdiction where your product operates
- Obtaining all required gaming licenses and authorizations
- Ensuring your use does not violate any official data mandate for in-play bet settlement, which varies by sport and jurisdiction
Illinois (230 ILCS 45/25-40) and Tennessee require in-play F1 wagering to use data from FOM's authorized supplier. RaceHooks does not satisfy this requirement for F1. You must independently confirm compliance requirements for each sport and jurisdiction before operating.
RaceHooks expressly disclaims any liability arising from your failure to comply with gambling laws, official data requirements, or licensing obligations.
7. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will be accurate or real-time. Live data availability depends on upstream services outside our control. Access to live race data may be restricted or discontinued at any time and without notice; in such cases the Services may operate at reduced capability (e.g., increased latency from archive data instead of live push), or may be materially limited or discontinued. These upstream access changes are not grounds for Service credits under Section 10. The free tier carries no warranty or service level commitment of any kind.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RACEHOOKS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, OR LOSS OF DATA, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.Our total liability for all claims arising from these Terms or the Services will not exceed the greater of: (a) fees you paid to RaceHooks in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow liability limitations. In those jurisdictions, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RaceHooks and its officers, directors, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: your use of the Services; your violation of these Terms or the AUP; your violation of any third-party rights; your violation of any applicable law including gambling regulations; or any product you build using the Services.
10. Service Level (Paid Tiers)
For paid subscribers, RaceHooks targets 99.5% monthly uptime for the webhook delivery infrastructure, monitored via Better Stack at status.racehooks.io. Uptime excludes scheduled maintenance (24 hours' advance notice), outages originating from upstream live timing infrastructure, and force majeure events. If you experience a significant disruption, contact support@racehooks.io and we will work with you to make it right.
11. Confidentiality
Each party will hold the other's confidential information in strict confidence and use it only as permitted under these Terms. Confidentiality obligations do not apply to information that is publicly known, was rightfully known before receipt, is independently developed, or must be disclosed by law or court order (with reasonable prior notice where permitted).
RaceHooks may use aggregated, anonymized usage data to improve the Services and publish platform-level statistics. We will not publish data that identifies you or your application without your consent.
12. Termination
These Terms are effective from account creation until terminated. You may terminate at any time via account settings or by contacting support@racehooks.io; termination takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
We may terminate your account for cause immediately on notice, suspend it for non-payment after 7 days, or discontinue the Services with 90 days' notice to paid customers (with pro-rated refund). Upon termination, your access and API credentials are invalidated immediately. Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 14 survive termination.
13. Modifications
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify active paying customers of material changes with reasonable notice before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with an update, stop using the Services and terminate your account.
14. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Before filing any claim, both parties agree to attempt informal resolution with 30 days' written notice. Any dispute not resolved informally will be resolved by binding confidential arbitration under AAA rules in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with costs shared equally. Either party may seek injunctive relief in court to prevent irreparable harm or protect IP rights. Claims must be brought within one year of the triggering event.
By agreeing to arbitration, both parties waive the right to a jury trial and the right to bring or participate in any class action.15. General
Entire agreement: These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the AUP constitute the full agreement between the parties and supersede all prior agreements. Severability: If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in force. No waiver: Failure to enforce a provision does not waive it. Assignment: You may not assign your rights without our consent; we may assign in connection with a merger or asset sale. Independent contractors: Nothing here creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
